Eternal Youth

In youth we danced beneath the sunlit sky,
With dreams as wild as currents in the sea,
But time unfolds and bids our spirits fly,
We learn of choices, each with its decree.
The world, now vast, demands a grownup’s eye,
Responsibilities and duties plea,
Yet in the heart, the child still wanders free,
A blend of old and new in harmony.

The laughter fades, replaced by weighty sighs,
Yet knowledge blooms where innocence once bloomed,
Each lesson learned, a thread that softly ties
Our past to future paths, where hopes are groomed.
With every step, we seek the truth that lies
In wisdom’s arms, where we are still consumed,
For though we age, that spark will never die,
The grownup heart still yearns, still dreams, and zooms.

Three Things Challenge #M960

VILE
WET
YOUTH

In a village so vile, where the mud puddles lay,
Lived a gang of young critters, all eager to play.
With squishy wet shoes that squashed as they ran,
Chasing raindrops and rainbows, oh, what a plan!

The youth of the town, with laughter so loud,
Jumped into the muck, oh, they felt so proud.
With squelching and sliding, they danced with delight,
Creating a symphony of splash, what a sight!

But one little frog, with a mischievous grin,
Said, “Let’s have a contest to see who can win!
We’ll leap through the puddles, let’s see who can twirl,
In this wet, vile kingdom, let our joy unfurl!”

So they bounced and they hopped, in the gloopy, wet mire,
With hearts filled with youth and a spark of desire.
For in every vile puddle, with a splash and a cheer,
They found not just water, but friendship so dear!
