Meeting Lost

There once was a time of routine,

Where attending meant being seen.

–

But in this new age,

We sit on a virtual stage,

With faces on screens that are clean.

–

No longer do we gather in crowds,

Or walk through busy city ploughed.

–

Our meetings are online,

A new way to align,

But oh, how we miss the real sounds.

–

We now click the link to attend,

A virtual world we must blend.

–

No handshakes or hugs,

Just tiny camera shrugs,

Oh, how we long for the end.

–

We see each other through pixels,

But our connection is still critical.

–

Though it may not feel right,

It’s our reality in sight,

As we navigate this new ritual.

–

So let’s raise a glass to the screen,

For it’s the only way we can convene.

–

But soon we’ll reunite,

In person, it’ll be right,

Until then, virtual will reign supreme.

  1. Brilliant it’s like a bunch of limerick and within a poem I love it, looking at your iambic pentameter it’s like
    aa/bb/a:cc/dd/c:ee/ff/e, etc.
I love it and it’s quite original in style very well done, Missy.

  2. I love this. To me it is about covid? I actually find it very cathartic reading poems and stories about covid, because sometimes its like it never happened and its just a bad memory that I was forced to stay in the house and other times if I am alone in the garden I sort of get a weird feeling like covid isolation is back.
Really like this poem. I have only written two poems and one of them is about covid. Will share it at some point.
    Thanks for sharing this!

  3. Covid really did a number on this world.

The poem was beautifully Written on what is now not only considered a normal but also a sad moment in time.
