Feeling Good

Daily writing prompt
How are you feeling right now?

I’m feeling pretty good right now! After dealing with a bad migraine yesterday, I’m glad to say that I’m back on track. I don’t have any lingering pain, so I can finally tackle some tasks I’ve been meaning to get to. It’s a relief to feel this way, and I really hope it lasts all day long. I’ve got a few things I’d like to accomplish, and I’m ready to make the most of this good mood!

Whispers in the Haze

In the humid haze of a summer’s day,
A hoax was whispered, leading hearts astray.
With horrible tales that danced in the air,
Reality twisted, unaware of its snare.

Yet beneath the fog, truth glimmers bright,
A beacon of hope in the fading light.
For in the warmth where shadows might loom,
Love’s gentle touch can still make us bloom.

In the Wake of Chaos

Your three words today are:
RUMMAGE
RANSACK
DESTROY

The need and want to ransack,
To rummage through the night,
A tempest brews within my soul,
Demanding dark delight.

Each corner whispers secrets,
Each shadow holds a throne,
Desire wraps its tendrils tight,
In chaos, I’ll atone.

The urge to break apart the calm,
To shatter glass and bone,
A restless spirit yearns to roam,
Where no heart dares to moan.

But through the wreckage lies a path,
A glimmer wrapped in strife,
In destruction’s wake, I find a spark—
A chance to forge new life.

So let the wild winds howl and rage,
Let thunder fill the air,
For in the midst of all that’s lost,
I’ll rise beyond despair.

The Question

Am I truly alive or am I pretending to be,
That is the question that I ask myself daily.
In shadows I wander, lost in the fray,
Searching for meaning that slips away.

Each heartbeat a whisper, each breath a disguise,
Yet in all of the doubt, a spark still lies.
For to question is live, to seek and to yearn,
In the dance of existence, I still will return.

A Step Towards Understanding

Please try to understand,
I am trying my best and can only do so much,
Meet me halfway, the ground we can touch,
In the silence, hear my unspoken plea,
Together we’ll rise, you and me.

Let patience guide us, through shadows we’ll tread,
With love as our compass, let’s forge ahead.
A journey begins when we both take a stand,
For understanding blooms when we walk hand in hand.

The Enchantment of MAD Missy

The lovely malady, MAD Missy,
Was enchanted by a melody sweet,
Her spirit soared, her heart in flight,
As notes danced around her, pure delight.

With eyes closed tight, she swayed with grace,
Each beat a whisper, a warm embrace.
In twirls and leaps, she lost track of time,
In a world of music, she felt so divine.

So let the melody linger and play,
For in every sway, her heart finds its way,
As long as the music calls her name,
MAD Missy shines, forever aflame.

Shadows of Doubt

When will the message finally break through,
That I am not enough for you?
Time and again, you’ve let me down,
Yet here I am, still around.

Why do I keep returning to this pain?
Am I simply a glutton for my own disdain?
Searching for love in the shadows of doubt,
Wondering what this heart’s all about.

U.S. coins used to say “Mind Your Business”

The earliest U.S. coin in circulation featured the phrase “Mind Your Business” rather than “In God We Trust.” This original motto was attributed to Benjamin Franklin, but the phrase was changed to “In God We Trust” during the Civil War, primarily due to a rise in religious sentiments, as noted by Snopes.

A Call to Healing

I’m sorry, I meant to wait
Until you called, a little late.
But the weight began to climb,
No one here to share the time.

I reached out, unsure if you’d be there,
Hoping you’d return, beyond despair.
I didn’t want to see another face,
It felt so wrong in this lonely space.

Fortunately, you answered my plea,
An appointment set, a chance to be free.
With apologies shared, may healing start,
A journey together to mend the heart.
