In 1949, animal acts were banned from the Miss America pageant after Miss Nevada Carol Diane Lampe, a member of 4-H, wanted to bring in a cow to discuss cattle breeding. While she wasn’t allowed her cow, Miss Montana Carol Fraser was allowed to ride her horse during the talent portion.
