Sky blue you left me
Lying in an empty bed
Resting all alone.
Painful tears run down my face
For a love that never was

Green trees and bushes
Warm gentle breeze, that pushes
Leaves fly in whooshes.
Nature’s beauty never rushes
Peaceful moments, nature hushes

I’m using diphthongs
To coin a phrase and again
Mean meaning or meant.
To express my thoughts so clear
In words that resonate near

Wintery sunshine
Soft pale white translucent rays
Light everything.
Sparkling radiance shines bright.
See the beauty all around.

JOVIAL
SPRITE
SPIRIT

The jovial sprites wanted to bring peace to all
So, with all their might, they spread peace throughout the world
Now everyone gets along
So thank you, Sprites, for all that you have done.

The earth is warming, the ice caps melt,
Climate change, a crisis we’ve been dealt.
Extreme weather, rising sea levels too,
The impact of our actions coming into view.
Pollution fills the air, the oceans, the land,
We must act now, we must take a stand.
Reduce, reuse, recycle, and more,
Protecting our planet for generations in store.
Renewable energy, conservation, and green,
Together, we can make a clean world.
Let’s work as one to make a change,
For a sustainable future, let’s rearrange.

Poor Ted the train, chugging along,
Minding his business, singing a song.
When, out of the blue, a fallen tree,
Blocked his path, oh what misery!
With a puff of steam and a loud toot,
Ted tried to move it, oh what a hoot!
But the tree wouldn’t budge, it stood so tall,
Ted needed help, he couldn’t do it all.

PETS
PEST
STEP
The Stare Down

In a quiet neighborhood, there was a stare down between pets.
The dogs believed the cats stole their step and
Now, they were pests.
But the cats believed that the step was their fair and square.
So the standoff will continue until one concedes,
which, by the looks of it, will not happen
any time soon.

I attend to everyone,
But when do I attend to me?
Do they see me as a person,
Or a thing to do what they need?

HUNK
DUNK
CHUNK

There was a hunk who loves to dunk
But every time he does, he takes a chunk
Out of the backboard with his might,
Sending the spectators into a fright.

CHORE
DUSTER
POLISH

Chores can be such a bore,
Not enough muster to use the duster,
Dishes piled high, sweeping the floor,
I’d rather be a dreamer than auster.
But duty calls, so I roll up my sleeves,
And tackle each task with a sigh,
Hoping that soon I’ll be free to believe,
In a world where chores can’t reach so high.

Then we add two more
A Tanka is created
Joy when we work together
