Three Things Challenge #M803

PRANCE
STRUT
SWAY

In the meadow, a horse named Lance,
Decided to break into a dance,
With a prance, a strut, and a sway,
He wowed all the animals that day!

Listless

In a world so vast and wide,
Sometimes, I feel listless inside.
No motivation, no spark or flame,
Just the feeling that everything’s the same.
But I know deep inside my core,
This listlessness won’t last forevermore.
I’ll find my purpose, my drive, my zest,
And this listless feeling will be put to rest.

Wilderness Chronicles

Use the two sets of antonyms in your response, which can be poetry, prose or other!

Your words this week are:

  • courageous and timid
  • cunning and simple

Here you go

In the vast wilderness, the timid rabbit hides,
While the courageous lion prowls with pride.
The cunning fox devises a clever scheme,
While the simple deer roams free, pure as a dream.

Timepiece

A timepiece, a faithful guide through time’s sway,
Each tick and chime, a comforting array,
It marks life’s journey, the highs and lows we face,
A silent witness, in each fleeting embrace.

It counts the years and centuries in quiet grace,
Reminding us, life’s moments we must embrace,
A symbol of time’s passage, transient and pure,
A timepiece, a companion, steady and sure.

Seasons change and memories fade away,
But this timeless symbol will always stay,
In our hearts and minds forever.

PIVOT
DIVOT
IDIOT

There was a divot in the way, so I had to pivot
So I don’t look like an idiot.
I danced around it with a graceful spin
To avoid looking clumsy, I just had to win.

SCOFF
STUFF
SMOCK

Annie was in her smock, painting away,
Creating scenes of joy, in every stroke she’d convey,
All the stuff that she enjoys, her heart poured into art,
But then along came Agustus, with a scoff and a snarky remark.

Tears glistened in her eyes, as her enemy belittled her creation,
Her work was special and dear, a masterpiece in her imagination.

Writer’s Workshop Prompts for August 29, 2024

Here are the prompts for this week’s Writer’s Workshop: The Writer’s Workshop is open to anyone and everyone. Here’s how you can join us: Hope to see you Thursday!

Writer’s Workshop Prompts for August 29, 2024

Here are the prompts for this week’s Writer’s Workshop:

  1. Write a post based on the word request.
  2. Write a post in exactly 14 sentences.
  3. Do you believe in destiny, or do you believe that life’s outcome is strictly the result of choice and circumstance? What experiences or evidence has led you to your position on fate versus free will?
  4. Do you read memoir, biographies, or reference books? Which ones are your favorites and what do you get out of them?
  5. Write about a time when you wanted to escape or run.
  6. Write a critical review of your favorite television show.

This is my first time trying this, so we will see how it goes. I chose to do number 1: write a post based on the word request. So here goes…

I request that you stay true,
To the values that guide you,
May your heart be light and free,
As you dance through life with glee.

I request that you find peace,
In the moments of sweet release,
Let your spirit soar and fly,
Underneath the endless sky.

SULTRY
TERSE

I once trusted my brother so solemn and true,
But he took from me, and my trust he did eschew.
His sultry lies and sly deceit,
Left my heart heavy, my anger replete.

SCREW
TACK
NAIL

Screws, tacks, and nails, oh my!
In the workshop, they all do lie.
The screw got twisted and turned around,
The tack got stuck but didn’t make a sound.
And the nail, oh the nail, so strong and stout,
It held it all together without a doubt.

REMNANT
PIECE
RAG

The remnant piece of rag,

A symbol of strength and hope,

In Victoria’s hands it lay,

A testament to resilience.

Tattered and worn, yet cherished so,

It held memories of struggles,

But through it all, it stood tall,

A reminder of perseverance.

What If

What if,
the sun refused to rise,
And the moon decided not to set?

What if,
the stars fell from the skies,
And the oceans all dried up and left?

What if,
birds forgot to sing,
And flowers never bloomed again?

What if,
winter forgot to bring
Snowflakes gently falling, now and then?

What if,
love ceased to exist,
And kindness disappeared from sight?

What if,
hope could not persist,
And darkness banished all the light?

But even in these what if’s, true,
There’s strength in us and ways to cope.
For in our hearts, the answers brew,
And we’ll find our way through, with hope.
