What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

The virtue I find most overrated is people‑pleasing. Not because kindness is unimportant, but because I’ve spent too much of my life shrinking myself to keep others comfortable. People call it being sweet or helpful, but the truth is that constantly managing everyone else’s emotions comes at the cost of my own. It’s a habit that gets praised far more than it deserves, and unlearning it has become part of getting to know who I actually am.

I’m learning that kindness doesn’t require self‑abandonment, and caring for others doesn’t mean disappearing from myself.

  1. What was your favorite subject in school and why? Okay, this might shock some, but my favorite subject in school was math. I loved that math was right or wrong, and there was no between. Just recently, I started to understand and appreciate writing.
  2. What book had a significant impact on you? 19 Minutes by Jodi Picoult had a significant impact on me. It covered everything in the book and dealt with hard subjects, presenting the story from all parties involved.
  3. Do you have a favorite local restaurant or café? I would have to say that my favorite local restaurant is Sergio’s. It is a Mexican restaurant that serves amazing authentic food.
