Lesson Learned

Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

A lesson I wish I had learned earlier in life is that I can’t please everyone. It took me a while to realize that no matter what I do, there will always be people who are unsatisfied or disagree with me. I have gotten better at this, but it’s something that I still am working on. I must focus on being true to myself and my values rather than seeking validation from others.

Flying Free

In the open sky,
A kite flying free and high,
Dancing with the wind.

Graceful and serene,
It soars above the treetops,
A colorful dream.

Tugging at the string,
I feel its energy,
Connecting us both.

The sun shining bright,
I watch as it dips and dives,
In joyful delight.

A symbol of peace,
Floating on the breeze so light,
Bringing me release.

In this moment, I,
Am one with nature’s beauty,
And the kite up high.

With each gentle tug,
I guide it through the sky blue,
A dance of pure love.

The world fades away,
As I lose myself in flight,
Soaring high today.

Oh, kite flying free,
You bring me such joy and peace,
My heart dances with glee.

Embracing the sky,
In unity with all things,
A kite flying high.

The Cost of Vanity

Try not to be vain,
It will get you nowhere,
A heart wrapped in mirrors,
Reflecting only despair.

In the glow of false beauty,
You may dance, you may shine,
But in the silence of shadows,
You’ll find no hand to entwine.

With each boastful echo,
You build walls made of pride,
Cutting ties with the true ones,
Leaving love cast aside.

So cherish the simple,
Valleys deep and wide,
For in humility’s embrace,
True joy cannot hide.

Seek not the fleeting glory,
Let kindness be your guide,
In a world that’s ever-changing,
It’s love that will abide.

The Itch That Wouldn’t Quit

Your three words today are:

HAIRLINE
ITCH
SPOT

In a hairline so fine, what a sight,
An itch made me squirm day and night.
On a spot that I found,
It danced all around,
Now I’m scratching with all of my might!

Increase in Empathy

In a world where chaos seems to reign,
Let’s sow the seeds, let go of the pain.
If we increase our empathy, just a little more,
We’ll find the peace we’ve longed for at our core.

With open hearts and listening ears,
We can soften the violence, diminish the fears.
Each act of kindness, a light shining bright,
Bringing us closer, erasing the night.

So let us embrace the love that we share,
For when we are united, we lighten the air.
Increase your empathy, let compassion be known,
And watch as tranquility flourishes and grows.

Watching Eyes

Eyes are watching
Every move that you make
Or are they

Or is it
Your imagination playing tricks again
To scare you

Making you believe
That you are being judged constantly
What’s the truth?

Bold Signature

There once was a man named John Hancock,
Whose signature made quite a shock.
With a flourish so wide,
In history, he’d bide,
A bold patriot on the clock!

Between Heart and Mind

The therapist says to mingle and make friends,
Your heart knows that’s true, but your mind just pretends.
It whispers of judgment, the fears that it sends,
A battle within as your spirit contends.

Each laugh feels like armor, but doubt weighs you down,
In a room full of faces, you wear a frown crown.
What if they see you, the cracks and the flaws?
What if connection is lost in the pause?

But deep in your heart, there’s a spark seeking light,
A yearning for warmth in the coldness of night.
With courage, step forward, let go of the chains,
Embrace the uncertain; it’s where freedom gains.

For friendship’s a garden that flourishes slow,
With patience and kindness, its beauty will grow.
So heed the soft whisper that pushes you near,
For the joy of connection can banish all fear.

A game show dare inspired a town to change its name

Hot Springs, N.M. was renamed Truth or Consequences in 1950 after the popular NBC radio game show hatched a publicity scheme. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the show, host Ralph Edwards wondered if there might be a town in the U.S. who “liked and respected” the show so much they’d change the name to Truth or Consequences. Hot Springs answered the call and via a special election, the town officially voted to have a new name. – 50 Weird Facts That Most People Don’t Know
