Urban Hunt

Oh, the joys of searching for parking,
Never an easy task to tackle,
Frustration often seems to follow.

As I navigate the crowded streets,
Hoping for a spot that feels like a win.
Oh, the joys of searching for parking.

With every turn, my patience wears thin.
I scan the curbs, my hopes on the rise,
Never an easy task to tackle,

Dreaming of freedom beneath open skies.
As empty spaces dance just out of reach.
Frustration often seems to follow.

Shallow warm water.
Very salty to the taste.
Greets, in steady waves.

Nature’s beauty on display,
Sunshine sparkling on the sea.

Frank Fools Crow, an Oglala Lakota spiritual leader and medicine man, led the opening prayer for a session of the U.S. Senate, making him the first native American religious leader to do so. He spoke the invocation in Lakota

The Whispers of the Meadow Tree

In a meadow stood a tall tree,
With branches that danced wild and free.
It whispered to the breeze,
With rustling leaves as it pleased,
A sentinel of joy, so carefree!

Infesting Thoughts

Bothered by the infest of thoughts

A nuisance that never seems to fade

Chasing peace, but it cannot be caught

These worries, in my mind, have made a trade

Solitary Moments

Solitary moments stretch into eternity,
As I yearn for a connection, a sense of fraternity,
Kept away from the laughter and the cheer,
I seek solace in the silence, holding my dear.

Mindful Moment

Did you know ironing could be a mindfulness practice? Focus on the weight of an iron as you extend your arm back and forth and notice how the fabric changes as you iron out the wrinkles. Stay present, and when your mind wanders, use your senses to come back to the moment

The Fear

Overcrowded places.
Bring out my anxiety.
Remember to breathe.
Don’t let it overwhelm you.
Just be brave and keep going…

Settle the Knight

Oh, once there was a knight named Settle,
Whose armor was quite shiny and metal.
In the jousting ring, he aimed for gold,
But alas, his skills were not that bold.

He clashed and clanged with all his might,
But always ended up with bronze in sight.
He’d hang his head, feeling quite glum,
While the crowd would cheer for the number one.

So Settle the knight, so full of grace,
Would polish his bronze with a sad embrace,
And though he aimed for the highest throne,
Bronze was the metal he made his own.
