Speak Forward

Lingering nearby will not help you
Speak up and be true

For they will never know unless you do,
So take a step forward, and share your truth too.

Whispers of Time

Amid the shadows of time’s embrace,
Nature whispers tales of a forgotten place.
Carved in stone, stories old as the sun,
In every heartbeat, the echoes run.
Eternal wisdom in the winds that blow,
Nurturing the roots of what we now know.
Treasures of history, forever they’ll gleam.

Martin Luther King Jr. paid Julia Roberts’ hospital bill

There are a lot of out of interesting facts about Martin Luther King Jr., but this one is definitely up there. Back in 1967, MLK Jr. and Coretta Scott King covered the cost of Julia Roberts’ hospital birth. It turns out Roberts’ parents couldn’t afford the bill, and the Kings’ gesture was a heartfelt payback. Julia’s parents, who ran a theater school in Atlanta, welcomed the King children as students when they had trouble finding a place that would accept them because they were Black. 50 Weird Facts That Most People Don’t Know

Understanding Social Anxiety: A Personal Journey

Most people mistake social anxiety for being shy, but the two are quite different. Shyness is more about feeling reserved or quiet in social situations, whereas social anxiety is a more intense condition that can lead to extreme fear and avoidance of social interactions.

I remember my own experience vividly. In high school, I would dread any event that involved social interaction, whether it was a group project or a party. The thought of being judged or embarrassed felt suffocating, often leading to me avoiding these situations altogether. I would come up with excuses to stay home, even when I really wanted to connect with my friends.

Individuals with social anxiety often worry excessively about being judged or embarrassed in front of others, which can significantly impact their daily lives and relationships. I found that my anxiety didn’t just affect my social life; it seeped into my academic performance and even my self-esteem.

Understanding the distinction between shyness and social anxiety is important for providing the right kind of support and encouragement to those who struggle with these feelings. It took time, but with supportive friends and professional help, I learned coping strategies that allowed me to face my fears gradually. It’s essential to promote awareness and compassion around this topic, as this can help those affected find the resources they need to cope and thrive.

Growing Divide

Widening gap between us grows

Emptiness fills the space we shared

Destroying moments once held dear

Ghosting through memories that fade

Echoes of trust now disappear

Drifting further each passing day

On August 1 in Prehistory…

Edmontosaurus

67 million years ago, a group of Edmontosaurus alternated between eating vegetation and watching for predators like T. Rex. These “duckbill” dinosaurs grew to fifty feet (15 meters) long and four tons (4,000 kilograms) in weight. Mostly quadrupedal, they could run on their back legs to flee danger.

The Balance of Trust

Trust is a treasure, not given away,
It’s built over time, day by day.
Earned through kindness, honest and true,
Yet fragile it is, by one flaw it’s blew.

A single mistake can shatter the wall,
What took years to build can crumble and fall.
So hold it with care, let your actions be just,
For trust is a bond we must cherish and trust.

The Comfort of Togetherness

Your three words today are:
HUG
HUDDLE
HOLD

In a cozy little snug hug,
We’d huddle close, feeling the snug,
With laughter and cheer,
We hold treasures near,
In warmth, all our worries are shrugged.

Echoes of Departure

LAUGH
LEFT
LEAVE

In laughter’s glow, the moments blend,
A fleeting joy, a breath we lend.
Yet in each chuckle, shadows creep,
As thoughts of loss begin to seep.

When paths diverge, I feel the heft,
The weight of memories now left.
A silent plea, to not deceive,
But life demands we sometimes leave.

Each smile a thread, a tapestry spun,
Yet the heart knows the race is run.
With every joy, a tear may flow,
In laughter’s wake, we learn to grow.

So here I stand, with echoes loud,
In bittersweetness, I am proud.
Through laughter shared and love received,
I’ll cherish all that we believe.
