Fun Fact

“The Star-Spangled Banner” is set to the tune of “To Anacreon in Heaven,” a piece originally composed around 1775 as the official song of the Anacreontic Society, an English musicians’ club.

Poetry

Silly Kitty

I once found an enchanted upper,
That turned my cat into a playful cur.
But when I drank from the mystical cup,
I accidentally cast a feline curse.

Now my kitty’s stuck in a silly spin,
Chasing tails with a mischievous grin.
I wish I could reverse this furry curse,
And return my pet to its normal purr.

Challenges, Poetry

Opposed to Division

I see some standing tall and proud,
Believing they’re better, speaking loud.
I’m opposed to such a view,
For kindness shines in me and you.

With heads held high, they turn away,
Ignoring love’s sweet, gentle sway.
In every heart, we share a song,
In unity, we all belong.

Let’s lift each other, hand in hand,
Together strong, together stand.
In this wide world of different faces,
True strength comes from our warm embraces.

Poetry

Flickering Hope

I dream of a world,
Where every soul is equal,
Harmony and peace.

But alas, it’s not,
Hatred brews in the shadows,
Divides us so deep.

Differences arise,
People turn against each other,
Hearts closed, vision blurred.

I don’t see the change,
Hope flickers like a small flame,
Yet still, I hold on.

Poetry

Wanderer’s Whispers

The serene scene makes me want to wander
To see the beauty of the world and ponder

The gentle breeze whispers secrets untold,
As nature’s wonders unfold, bright and bold.

Feet crunching along as they walk the path
Hoping time does not get cut in half

For there are many wonders yet to be seen,
In the whispers of dreams that dance in between.

Poetry, Word of the Day

Embracing the Dawn

At a checkpoint, I now stand,
With memories gathered like grains of sand.
The past, though etched in every line,
Is a tale I’m ready to redefine.

Each moment’s weight begins to lift,
I seek the present, a precious gift.
Letting go of shadows that linger near,
I embrace the dawn, the path is clear.

What comes next is mine to choose,
A canvas wide, no fear to lose.
With every step, I feel the sun,
A journey anew has just begun.

So here I am, with open heart,
In this chapter, I play my part.
The past behind me, I take a breath,
In living fully, I conquer death.

Poetry

Unplugging Bliss

In chaos, I find my way,
With pencil and music, I sway.
Lines on paper, thoughts set free,
A moment of peace, just for me.

Nature’s whispers, soft and true,
Joshua’s embrace, skies so blue.
A park bench calls, the world unfolds,
In quiet moments, my heart consoled.

Learning to pause, a tender art,
Breathing in calm, it soothes my heart.
In stillness, I gather, I rise above,
Finding my center, wrapped in love.

Poetry

A Time Before the Web

In days of old, before the screens,
We sought our truth in books and dreams.
With library shelves, we’d roam and search,
In every nook, our knowledge would perch.

With patience strong, we’d take our time,
Each page we turned, a mountain to climb.
Dictionaries thick, we learned to read,
Valuable skills were planted as seed.

No instant answers at our fingers’ touch,
Yet every moment felt so much.
Life was slower, yet rich and bright,
A different world, full of delight.

Fun and Quirky Oddities

We are more creative in the shower.

I have to agree with this. I know that I come up with a lot of what I do in the shower ☺️😂

    Poetry

    Whispers of Joshua Tree

Oh Joshua Tree, it has been a spell
I need to visit soon, I can already tell
How I have missed you, under the sky so free
And the things I can see, make my soul flee
