When we face a tough spot,
We keep going, giving it all we’ve got.
One foot in front of the other,
Searching for light, like a sister or brother.
At the finish, we’ll be proud,
Victory’s there, calling loud.

Frustration sets in, words caught in flight,
Need to say them, but they don’t come out right.
Misunderstood whispers, lost in the air,
Thought I was improving, but do I dare?
Each fix feels like labor, each word a retreat,
Struggling to express what’s deep and discreet.
Yet in every stumble, a flicker of light,
I’ll embrace my own voice, finding strength in the fight.

Shadows in the night
Whispers call, yet hearts stand firm
Stronger than the dark
Overcoming obstacles
Until they all are achieved…

Let me introduce Mr. Finster, aka my anxiety. He used to play a huge role in my life, but he has recently gotten smaller than before. I have learned that it is okay to have anxiety in your life as long as it doesn’t rule your life. For many years, that is what Mr. Finster did. With therapy and the right medication, things have been improving, and I will continue to work on strategies to make sure that he does not overrun my life again and learn how to become friends with my anxiety. The drawing was a mixture of two characters, one from a book and one from a TV show. Can anyone guess who they are?

CRINGE
COWER
BRUISE

I cringe and cower when I hear yelling
The pain and past bruises in my mind appear
Reminding me of past times, my heart is swelling
With memories that fill me with fear.
But I stand tall and face the day
Knowing that I am stronger now
Those painful memories may never go away
But I won’t let them hold me down.

Overcrowded places.
Bring out my anxiety.
Remember to breathe.
Don’t let it overwhelm you.
Just be brave and keep going…
