Upon Entering

Upon entering a room,
your heartbeat starts to race;
your hands begin to sweat,
your thoughts pick up their pace.
Imagined eyes are on you,
every stare feels true—
though no one really notices,
it still feels real to you.

Poetry

Sally the Sun

Sally the Sun wanted some fun,
She dreamed of a bright, merry run.
With her rays all aglow,
She’d outpace the day’s flow,
Chasing light ’til the day was all done.

Song Beyond the News

Your three words today are:
NIGHTINGALE
NORMAL
NEWS

A nightingale sings softly in the trees,
Turning normal moments into gentle melodies.
Its song drifts farther than the morning news,
A reminder that quiet beauty is ours to choose.

Three Things Challenge #MM447

Your three words today are:
MASH
MAST
MARSH

A tall mast stood beside the marsh,
Where winter winds blew cold and harsh.
They stepped into the sodden bog
And churned the frozen earth to mash.

Poetry

Peek-a-Boo, I See You

Peek-a-boo, I see you
No need to hide who you are
I know, and I like you the way you are

So come out and play with me,
Together we’ll laugh and roam free,
With smiles that shine just like the stars,
Let’s share our joy, no matter how far.

The Memory in the Soil

Your three words today are:
LOAM
LOATHE
LIST

In the quiet cradle of loam,
Seeds whisper of futures they’ve yet to enlist.
I loathe how time forgets their stories—
how roots grow long, yet names slip from the list.

Still, the earth remembers everything,
holding every rise and ruin close—
a keeper of what we cherish,
and what we choose to let go.

“What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Stronger”

Daily writing prompt
Share a proverb you think is completely wrong and make your case.

At first glance, it sounds empowering. We love a good resilience narrative. But when you look closer, this classic proverb oversimplifies the human experience in a way that can be dismissive—and even harmful.

Trauma, loss, illness, and hardship don’t automatically forge armor; instead, they can weaken you, leaving deep scars, chronic exhaustion, or long-term damage rather than a superhero origin story. Growth isn’t a guaranteed reflex, as true healing requires time, tools, safety, and support—realities ignored by a proverb that pressures people to simply “be strong.” Ultimately, survival isn’t the same as thriving, and just because something didn’t kill you doesn’t mean it made you better. “Strength” is far too narrow a term to define the complex ways we cope, as hard experiences are just as likely to leave us wiser, more cautious, more empathetic, or even more guarded.

A Windstorm of Emotions

A windstorm of emotions rushes through me,
each one twisting into the next before I can name it.
I can’t tell where one feeling begins
or when another finally lets go—
only that they collide inside me,
leaving me standing in the quiet after the storm.

Whispers of the Sea

The sea whispers secrets to shore.
It’s never dull; there’s always more.
Waves dance in the light.
Stars twinkle in night.
