Fast Time

In response to The Daily Spur

Time moves fast—
so fast it slips between our fingers
before we even notice the warmth fading.

Hours blur into days,
days into years,
and we look back wondering
when the world changed
and how we changed with it.

We chase moments
as if we can outrun the clock,
but time is patient—
it waits for no one,
yet it never loses its pace.

In the end,
we learn to hold what we can,
to breathe in the present,
because everything moves fast,
and nothing stays long enough
to be taken for granted.

Tough Topics

Some subjects arrive like a weight on the table,
quiet but impossible to ignore.
A topic can sit between two people
like a closed door,
waiting for the courage
or the honesty
to turn the handle.

We circle it at first,
pretending the air hasn’t changed,
pretending we don’t feel the pull
of what must be said.
But truth has a way of leaning forward,
of clearing its throat
until silence becomes its own confession.

And when we finally speak,
The room shifts.
Not because the words are easy,
but because they are real—
and real things reshape us,
even when they hurt.

Jester the Adventurous Jeep

There once was a jeep named Jester,
Who loved to explore and to test her.
One day with a beep,
It caused quite a leap,
As he zoomed past a bright yellow jester.

Poetry

Tears

Profound tears stream softly down my face

Pain arrives, overwhelming my soul

When will this end

Night settles heavy on my trembling breath

Echoes of sorrow linger in me

Hope feels far away

Memories rise like shadows on the wall

Each one reminding me what I’ve lost

Still I carry on

Morning light tries gently to break through

Warmth brushing lightly against my grief

I am not yet whole

Passion’s Light

Ecstasy revealed
Heart’s delight unleashed in joy
Soul’s blissful embrace
Passions burn, so brilliantly
That their light never goes out…

Shadows of Fear

Fear of judgment lingers,

Tightly grasping what we know.

Letting go is hard,

Leaves no space for us to grow,

In shadows, dreams remain low.

Finding Peace and Calm

When the weight of life becomes too much,
And my mind feels burdened, longing for a touch
Of peace and solace, I know what to do
To unplug and find a sense of renewal.

Drawing and music, a perfect blend,
Help my thoughts unwind, allowing me to mend
The frayed edges of my restless mind,
Bringing a sense of calm, that’s hard to find.

Nature, too, holds the key
To unplug and set my spirit free.
In Joshua Tree’s vast expanse,
I find a refreshing, revitalizing dance.

When I can’t journey to such a place,
A local park becomes my space
To sit on a bench and admire the view,
And let nature’s tranquility flow through.

Learning the importance of unplugging,
I now make it a practice, never budging
From prioritizing my peace of mind,
To prevent feeling overwhelmed, I’m inclined.

True Freedom

The moment you let yourself be carefree,
you taste real freedom—
a quiet release
from worry, doubt, and all their shadows.

Wrestling Thoughts

I wrestle with my thoughts—
they claw their way toward me,
pulling me under.
But I fight back, tooth and nail,
until their negative voices fade.

Unwinding

Daily writing prompt
How do you unwind after a demanding day?

I unwind in a few different ways, depending on the kind of chaos the day served me. Sometimes I grab my iPad and disappear into a cozy game. Other days I doodle, paint, or get lost in something creative. And then there are the days when I just switch into full “do not disturb, I’m recharging” mode and let the quiet do its thing. It’s a rotating menu of peace when I can.

Being Together

Being with family
And friends
Never gets old.
Quite a grand time to share,
United for a little while,
Enjoying every moment—
Time always slips away too fast.

Poetry

Blossom

A garden where flowers would blossom,
Had petals of pink, gold, and awesome,
A bee took a sip,
Did a wiggle and flip,
And declared it was truly handsome!
